In Budget 2019, the government announced the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Man-Dhan Yojana. This mega pension scheme is for workers in the unorganized sector. These include houseworkers, hawkers, drivers, plumbers, tailors, mid-day meal workers, rickshaw drivers, construction workers, garbage pickers, beedi makers, handlooms, agricultural workers, cobblers, washermen, Leather workers etc.

Those who become part of the scheme will get a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 from the age of 60 years. There is also a provision for family pension.

Under the Shram Yogi Man-Dhan Yojana, you can help the housekeeper, hawker shopkeeper, driver, plumber etc. in addition to those who work at home. Here we are giving all the information related to opening a member's account.

Who can become a part of the scheme?

There are some conditions for joining this scheme:

1. The person works in the unorganized sector.

2. The age should be between 18 years to 40 years.

3. Monthly income should not exceed Rs 15,000.

Which documents are needed? Enrollment in the scheme requires these documents:

 1. Aadhaar card

 2. Saving bank account / Jan Dhan account with IFSC

 3. Valid mobile number

How to apply

For applying under the scheme, the person has to go to the nearest Common Service Center (CSC). Do not forget to take all documents with you. Make sure that the IFSC code is printed on the savings account passbook.

To find the nearest CSC, one can visit the branch offices of LIC, ESIC and EPFO ​​as well as the labor offices of the central and state government.

At the center, a person has to submit a consent form for self-debit facility along with self-certified form. Both these forms are available on CSC .

How much can the contribution do? According to age, a person can make a contribution to the scheme. The amount of the contraption remains the same throughout the period. This amount will be automatically deducted from the savings bank account on a monthly basis. The first contribution for membership is made in cash.

How does the process complete? 

After the enrollment process is completed at the center, online pension number will be generated under the scheme. The person will get pension scheme card at CSC. It will have the details of name, date of commencement of pension, monthly pension amount, pension account number etc.
